Professional Experience

Fernando Sucre Miguez received his Degree in Law and Political Science in 1990.

He was an Associate Attorney at one of the most renowned law firms in the country, and in 1995 he founded and became a Partner of the law firm of Sucre, Briceño & Co.

He has worked in the public sector, and twice held the post of Legal Adviser at the Ministry of Government and Justice, in 1991 and 1999. In 2001, he was appointed Vice Minister in Charge of the Ministry of Government and Justice. In 2002, the Executive Branch found him ideal to fill the position of Magistrate of the Supreme Court of Justice.

He is a Permanent Observer of the Grupo de los 100, at the Innovation, Development and Legal Research Center, an entity that is sponsored by the Spanish firm Garrigues and by the Technological Institute of Monterrey.

In addition to the above, Mr. Sucre has been a member of the Board of Directors of Mi Banco, S.A. BMF since 2005 and served as President of that institution from 2008 to 2011. Furthermore, he is a member of the Board of Directors of GS Relocation Panamá, S.A. and Grupo Financiero Rapi Préstamos, S.A.

His extensive practice and experience in the areas of Corporate Law and Financial Law is well known by his peers.

He has been recognized by the prestigious Chambers & Partners publication as a leading attorney in Banking and Financial Law.

Among his written essays are “The Use of the Credit Card in Panama,” “The Search for Our Identity” and “The Triumph of a Statesman, the Life and Work of Enrique Jiménez” and he is a coauthor of specialized essays on the subject of Copyright in “Getting the Deal Through.”
