Professional Experience

Franklin Briceño Salazar obtained a Degree in Law and Political Science (“Magna Cum Laude”) from the University of Panama in 1990, and has a Master’s Degree in Compared Commercial Law from The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, United States of America, as a Scholar under the prestigious Fulbright Program. Furthermore, he has a Postgraduate Degree in Taxation (2010) and a Master’s Degree in Tax Planning from the UNESCPA (2011).

He worked as an Associate Attorney at several renowned local law firms an is Partner at Sucre, Briceño & Co. since 1999.

His professional experience has been mainly in the areas of Banking, Corporate and Tax Law, with a successful incursion into the fields of Labor Law and civil litigation. Presently is engaged in the commercial arbitration practice.

Franklin Briceño is an active member of various professional and trade union organizations, as well as Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs.) He is a member of the Inter American Bar Association, the Panamanian Association of Business Executives (APEDE by its acronym in Spanish) in which he served as President of the Commission on Ethics, Civic Responsibility and Corporate Social Responsibility, a member of the National Council of Lawyers, of the Fulbright Scholars Association, and a member of Amnesty International, among others.

Among his most relevant essays are “Acceptance of Powers in Opening Bank Accounts and Granting Credit,” “Considerations around Article 3 of the United Nations Convention Regarding Promissory Notes and Negotiable Documents and Panamanian Legislation,” “Some Ways of Fulfilling Obligations” and his thesis titled “On the Objective and Risk in Maritime Insurance.”

In the public service area, Franklin Briceño has been a member of the Conciliation and Decision Boards of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development, as representative of the employer sector and Outside Legal Counsel for the Agricultural Insurance Institute.

Franklin Briceño Salazar is a Professor in the Masters Program on Commercial Law and Procedural Law at the Universidad Interamericana. He has been a speaker at multiple seminars and meetings on subjects relating to the areas of professional practice and corporate ethics and transparency.
